Kinematic Type
A glyph swings on its own vertical axis, cut into horizontal bands that each run slightly behind the one above, so its edges break into steps as it turns. Wherever it has been it leaves a trail that fades from the glyph's colour out to the page. You can set how many bands it has, where one band gives a smooth smear, and swing or spin it.
